[T]his poet starts with ellipsis
of smothered frisson
of emotions, blurred in the
monochromatic lines of
lingering memories.
A score and five, you remain
delicately embalmed in
commas, colons, and etc.
for you are a body of ethereal
writing, yet unfinished.
The poem ends with an ellipsis
of annihilated expression,
dotted in dull hue; grey
black and white…
Ellipsis.
Author’s Note
The poetic persona suffers from dementia. An old man who is in love with his old lover, for years back. He notes that many words have been omitted because they lack expression, and he’s forgotten a lot.
He explains that though the memories of the good, giddy times and romance slowly fade, there are still few special moments he holds on to. And while pages may attempt to fill in what she is, and what he feels for her, she remains a continuous piece of eternal writing, the same with his love for her.
The poetic persona concludes that there are so many things he’d love to remember and write, which can only happen when he recalls, hence the ellipsis.
